The Best State of the Union of My Lifetime
And it’s not even close
From the onset of the 2024 election cycle, we’ve been barraged with disinformation about Joe Biden. That he is a doddering old man. That he has dementia. That his gaffes– the natural result of his lifelong stutter– are a sign of a lack of mental acuity. That he wasn’t the man for the job.
Well. I think we can all put that to bed after last night.
This year’s State of the Union address was the best one of my lifetime, and it’s not even close.
Biden was ferocious, sharp, and wise. The messages of the speech were defiant, and called for a better nation, and a better world. Laced throughout was a vision of the future that is hopeful, democratic, equitable and prosperous.
I had hopes for this address, and Biden blew them all out of the park.
It was so good that the ordinarily heckling Republicans were silent most of the time, with a few appearing stunned at Biden’s performance and the speech itself.
It left me with the distinct and unmitigated sense that WE CAN WIN THIS. We can defeat Trumpism once and for all, and we can create the nation that we want and deserve.
Now, it’s time to get to work.

Seems like America is shocked and stunned at Biden’s brilliant take down of the right, his sharpness, willingness to take on hecklers and his vision for America. Many, even on the left, were buying the rights propaganda. Wake up call ya’ll. We can do this!
I so, so agree with you, Elizabeth! After his delivery of a most excellent and energizing SOTU speech last evening, I have never been more convinced that President Biden WILL lead us through the most dangerous attack on our fragile democracy to saving it. Thank you also for the list of resources in your piece to further galvanize us to continue to do the work that we in the trenches need to do to support our sublime POTUS to be given 4 more years to accomplish this.
