For a lot of us, fear has been a shadow since children. I learned to turn fear into a tool when I divorced my narcissist husband. Fear was a crystal ball that allowed me to predict the next five crazy things that could possibly happen next. Fear was a project manager that helped me plan several steps ahead of those crazy things. Fear was a shield that protected my kids.
I love the idea of turning Fear into a friend. That makes me feel less crazy and more informed.
This is brilliant, inspiring, and hits all the right notes for holding all the truths and feelings at one time, and not allowing the fearful parts of reality to overwhelm hopeful truths and occurrences. Everyone should hear this and print it out to reread daily!! Thank you.
"Evaluating threat risk" ...excellent term by the way, is a way of life now. The cortisol building in my gut when I wake up, remembering to breathe more deeply throughout the day, unclenching my teeth, being careful what I post-- could it all be used against me at a later date? This is our life now, a small glimpse into how people live under authoritarian regimes. Thank you ECM for this reminder piece. We can use fear to do nothing, or we can use fear to support our movement toward human and civil rights.

Thanks again ECM for another great thinker.
Also, I think an educational video on Fear would be helpful.
